What is the Honors Club all about?
The Honors Club at Sacramento City College is the umbrella club that covers all students participating in a number of community related service activities. We provide support for student travel to conferences and conventions to present papers and receive awards. We also promote academic events such as lecture series, and evangelize to high school students about honors programs. Past service projects have involved the national PTK's focus on the environment, student's interest in alleviating homelessness, fundraising for local organizations and scholarships. Last year we focused on the dynamics of power in Darfur and on a congressional bill which threatened marine life. Our efforts resulted in a Scholarship award. Check out past achievements by club members.
How can I participate?
Just show up to one of the meetings on Thursdays at 12:00 noon in Rodda North room 220. Listen to the activities and if something interests you, volunteer to help out. It's just that simple.
What are the benefits? Why participate?
- Community Service. College application committees look for students who have leadership skills and have an interest in community service. Here's your chance to get involved!
- Scholarships. Your service will help in differentiating your application for scholarships from other applicants.
- Inspiration. For recognition and a resource to help when making the case for transfer to a four year institution.
What are the requirements?
If you are enrolled or will be enrolled full-time or part-time at Sacramento City College then you are eligible for the Honors Club.
